In July 2020, the United Kingdom (UK) Intellectual Property Office (IPO) revised its fees to patents, trademarks, registered designs, and supplementary protection certificates to help and encourage filers during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The changes included removing surcharges for patent application fee payments after the filing date, zero fees for time extensions, and reduced late payment of renewal fees to £1.
These fee changes will end on 31 March 2021.
any action taken on or after 1 April 2021 will require the usual fee.
Whilst reminding users of the fee changes the IPO said it has “reassured customers that it will continue to take whatever measures it can to support rights applicants, rights holders and representatives who have been affected by the Coronavirus pandemic”.
